SERVICES WE RENDER TO OUR CUSTOMERS/CLIENTS

The services we render to our numerous customers/clients include:

  • Provision of information as required in relation to our mandate areas, that is Extension Services.
  • Consultancy Services in all aspects of our research mandates (e.g Landscaping, watershed management, shelterbelt and plantation establishment, sand dune fixation, diagnostic surveys, plant inventory, wood processing, erosion and flood control through afforestation, soil and plan nutrition analysis, treatment of termite infested buildings and sites, etc
  • Feasibility studies (e.g. on grass cutter production, edible mushroom production, ceiling board production, etc)
  • Provision of seeds and seedlings of forest tree and fruit tree species.
  • Provision of breeding stock for grasscutter production.
  • Sale of merchantable trees and poles to the public.
  • Training on grasscutter production.
  • Production of decorative face ceiling boards.
  • Production of decorative floor and wall tiles.
  • Sawmilling and saw-doctoring.
  • Wood seasoning.
  • Chemical wood treatment/preservation
  • Production of furniture items
  • Production of laminated wood products.
  • Training on herbarium management and techniques.
  • Herbarium establishment
  • Formal training in our Colleges of Forestry and college of Wildlife Management at low and medium levels.
  • Training of woods craftsmen
  • Training in determination of wood anatomical structures and properties.
  • Taxonomic services, e.g plant identification, plant collection and supply.
  • Library and information services.
  • Sales of the Institution publications
  • Provision of Industrial Attachment Training to students from tertiary institutions and research centers.

OUR SERVICE STANDARDS

The Institute staff shall continue to render quality services in our mandate areas to our customers/clients at all times. We shall at all times treat you professionally and politely. In this regard, we shall:

  • Answer phone calls that reach us within the normal working hours (8.00 a.m to 4.00. p.m. Mondays to Fridays)
  • Respond to all correspondence with respect to our customers.
  • Respond to requests for publications and reference materials.
  • Provide accurate information to our customers/clients.
  • Conduct research in any of our mandate areas as may be sponsored by our Customers/Clients.
  • Develop and execute research programmes to meet developmental needs of our Clients/Customers.
  • The Institute Colleges shall continue to provide training in conformity with accreditation requirements of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)

QUALITY OF OUR SERVICES

We have always ensured that we deliver good quality services to our numerous customers/clients. This is evidenced by continuous requests for our training programmes on:

  • Seed and seedling production
  • Wood processing and utilization
  • Grasscutter domestication/production
  • Edible mushroom production
  • Herbarium management and techniques.

The good quality of our services is also evidenced by:

  • Increased demand for our numerous wood-based products. In this connection, Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) had commended the Institute on the good quality of electric poles treated.
  • A large number of scientific publications that have produced in both local and international journals by researchers in the Institute. Copies of the reprints of these publications are being requested for by both local and Foreign scientists, requests which are being met by the Institute.
  • The bulk of forestry personnel in all the forestry services in the country are products of our Colleges. Enrolments in these Colleges have continued to be on the increase.
  • Diagnostic surveys conducted by the Institute for many Agricultural Development Programmes in the country have helped in the formulation of programmes that have enhanced agroforestry practices in affected States for sustainable development, food security and poverty alleviation.
  • Large scale afforestation programme at our Trial Afforestation Project, Afaka-Kaduna.

EXPECTATIONS FROM OUR CUSTOMERS/CLIENTS

Our customers/clients can help us in the improvement of our service delivery system through appropriate feed back mechanism. This includes:

  • Providing comments on the services we have rendered either in writing or through visit to our Institute for appropriate interaction.
  • Encouraging us when any of our services satisfies your need to enhance our performance.
  • Letting us know researchable problems faced and which solution has not been provided.
  • Treating our staff courteously at all times during interaction.

We are very committed to the realization of the provision of this charter. To ensure that this is done, we shall continually monitor and evaluate all our activities. This we shall achieve through:

  • Carrying out of annual research reviews.
  • Production of annual reports.
  • Production of annual reports
  • Execution of further research to cover any identified gap(s).
  • Collaboation with other relevant bodies/institutions as may be necessary.
